In August 2022, PGT began its contact with Morimatsu Heavy Industry and planned to build lithium hexafluorophosphate facilities overseas which coincided with the development strategy of Morimatsu Heavy Industry. After many rounds of negotiations and 10 months of in-depth research and consultation, both parties have finally successfully signed the contract.
Solutions
A large number of pumps and equipped electric motors used in the project need to be purchased in which the metering pumps and magnetic pumps were provided by two pump factories located in Liaoning and Zhejiang respectively. Due to the application site located in North America, the motors equipped with these pumps need to comply with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. WEIMA ELECTRIC recommended the most cost-effective NEMA explosion-proof motor model AEHH8N produced by TECO to Morimatsu.
*NEMA Standard: The NEMA standard is a standard published by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, primarily used to regulate the design and performance of electrical products. These standards include but are not limited to the specifications, performance and testing methods of enameled wire, as well as the safety and performance of electrical equipment. The NEMA standard is not a mandatory standard, but due to its authority and wide acceptance, it is widely used in the wire and cable and electrical equipment industries. The NEMA standard enameled wire is an important part of the NEMA standard which is used to regulate the size, material, temperature resistance level, electrical performance and other aspects of enameled wire. It is an important basis for formulating enameled wire product standards.
In addition, the NEMA standard also includes various safety and performance testing standards for electrical equipment, such as performance requirements and testing methods for flame-retardant wires and cables and mineral insulated cables. The NEMA testing standard is a comprehensive and strict standard system that not only ensures the safety and performance of electrical equipment, but also provides guidance and basis for the installation and maintenance.
In specific applications, it is important to be noted that there may be differences between the NEMA standards and other standards of other countries and regions, so caution should be taken when adopting the NEMA standards.
Chang Chun Group, founded in China Taiwan in 1949, has upheld the principles of integrity and excellence for over 55 years. With a focus on technology, quality, and customer service, it has grown into a large enterprise group in Taiwan, with products sold in over fifty countries worldwide.
Chang Chun Chemical (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., initially invested 296.6 million USD, is located in Changshu Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, covering approximately 100 hectares with over 1,000 employees. It produces twenty-five products and has facilities such as cogeneration plants and ports, current products include polyvinyl alcohol, epoxy resin, amine resin, light-induced corrosion-resistant dry film, plastic barrels, PBT, emulsion adhesives of polyvinyl acetate, and solvents etc..
Project Introduction
At the 2018 China Green Development Conference, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced plans to accelerate the green transformation of traditional industries, emphasizing energy-saving supervision for key energy-consuming enterprises and equipment. Accordingly Chang Chun Chemical responded to MIIT's call to initiate plans to upgrade the entire factory's energy efficiency.
Solutions
Equipment involved in Chang Chun Chemical's energy efficiency upgrade include fans, pumps, mixers, conveyors, and compressors etc. Although these equipment were from different brands, after comprehensive consideration, Weima Electric provided a solution featuring explosion-proof motors of the TEB4 model with IE4 energy efficiency standards from TECO.
The upgrade project took four years to be completed from 2018 to 2022, during this period Weima Electric supplied Chang Chun Chemical with a total of 882 TECO TEB4 explosion-proof motors ranging from 0.75 kW to 75 kW, 14,409 kW in total.
Customer Value
After this energy efficiency upgrade, Chang Chun Chemical's motor efficiency improved from IE2 to IE4, not only aligning with MIIT's requirements, but also achieving energy savings and reducing running costs.
By rough calculations, after the energy efficiency upgrade for Chang Chun Chemical, their annual electricity cost saves approximately 3.42 million RMB which will reduce losses by about 3%.
Moreover, standardizing all equipment under the TECO brand will facilitate easier maintenance in the future.
Energy Saving Calculation Formula:
TECO standard IE2 motor: 55 kW-4P
Energy efficiency grade: GB3/IE2
Efficiency value: 93.5%
TECO IE4 motor: 55 kW-4P
Energy efficiency grade: GB1/IE4
Efficiency value: 95.7%
Electricity Cost Savings Calculation:
1) Total Cost = Initial Cost + Operational Cost
2) Annual Electricity Cost Savings (IE2->IE4) = kW * (100/IE2 - 100/IE4) * operating hours per year * electricity price per kWh
3) Savings Calculation Method:
Example: For a 55 kW-4P motor operating 8000 hours annually,
When upgrading from IE2 efficiency of 93.5% to IE4 efficiency of 95.7%,
