RENK's history dates back to 1873, when Johann Julius RENK established a small machining shop for the mechanical production of gears in the Lechviertel district of Augsburg. In 1879, the young company moved to the Göggingen district, where RENK’s headquarters remain today. The company was converted into a joint‑stock corporation in 1897, and from 1923 onwards it was integrated into what is now the MAN Group.
When Volkswagen AG acquired a majority stake in MAN SE in 2011, RENK became part of the Volkswagen Group as well. Today, RENK is a globally leading supplier of high‑quality drive technology. Its facilities in Augsburg, Rheine, and Hanover serve as the main production sites.
